Ross Gay, On Being, on delight

This conversation between Ross Gay and Krista Tippett, from the wonderful On Being podcast, remains the best and most-needed thing I listened to during the pandemic. Their talk covers joy and justice, fear and football, gardening and good coffee, tiny pleasures and the vast darkness of the world. It considers the possibility that that if we hold this darkness — if we acknowledge all the terrors and violence and inequities in this world — we might just make room for some kind of mercy, some sort of shared tenderness.

I won’t try to do this conversation justice. I’ll simply offer up my thanks, for I have thought about it nearly every day since I first heard it, months ago.
