I’ve written about astrophysicists and athletes, cosmologists and Arctic conservators, geologists and psychologists and farmers and kids with big dreams. This world of ours is complex, but it sure is filled with wonder.
My books include THE SMASH-UP (forthcoming, Random House, 2021), which is my first adult novel, THE NEXT GREAT PAULIE FINK (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, 2019), THE THING ABOUT JELLYFISH (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers 2015). I’ve also co-written memoirs for and with others. I won some awards for those books and have had the great fortune to reach people all over the world with my words.
I live in Massachusetts. I try to be a good community member. I believe in democracy, and in my spare time do what I can to fight for it. I love the first hit of coffee in the morning. I adore a good summer rainstorm. I read multiple books simultaneously. I’m a dog person; perhaps I’d be a cat person, too, if I weren’t so allergic. During pandemics I wear a mask consistently and proudly. In all areas and at all times I believe in following the science.
