I’m a bestselling author and National Book Award finalist. My new book, THE NEXT GREAT PAULIE FINK (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers) is about an oddball school in the middle of the woods and a group of misfit kids who decide to hold their own reality TV-style competition.  (And goats. It’s also a little bit about goats.)

The book explores what it means to be somebody’s hero, whether we can ever really know someone, what connects humans through space and time, how stories drive the world forward, and how it feels to emerge from Plato’s Cave.

My 2015 novel, THE THING ABOUT JELLYFISH (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers ) was an international bestseller and a National Book Award finalist, and it got a bunch great kudos from lots of places.

I’m also the co-author of Tim Howard’s bestselling THE KEEPER, both the adult and young readers’ editions (HarperCollins 2014); and Paige Rawl’s POSITIVE (HarperCollins 2014), a coming-of-age memoir which was a Junior Library Guild selection and the first-ever nonfiction selection for The Today Show book club.

I’m currently at work on a new project that’s different from anything I’ve done to date; stay tuned.
